Dear Humanity,
Crazy things have been happening lately (and, really,
always). It’s getting to the point where every day there is some new (old)
injustice, some horrible event, some last-straw occurrence to hold and make
sense of while trying not to fall apart. I’m not sure how much more of it I
(we) can take.
So, I want to remind us all of something we seem to have
forgotten. Or, maybe we never knew it in the first place. But it’s important,
so here it is:
We are all in this together.
In this racist, ableist, misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic,
patriarchal, corporatist system, none of
us is free.
Some of us are more oppressed than others, and we are
oppressed in different ways. We have myriad experiences of life in this world.
But the systems that oppress some of us oppress all of us. Our experiences may
be different, but the systems are the same. If we understand the systems, if we
can recognize the insidious ways in which they work, we can fight them.
Instead of fighting each other.
Find a way today to fight the system, okay? With words, with music, with fists, with screams, with blood, with tears, or with love.
Find a way today
to Get Free.
Love,
Mia
